About Vaitheeswaran Koil
In the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, there is a Hindu temple called Vaitheeswaran Koil that is dedicated to Shiva. Shiva is referred to as Vaidyanathar or Vaitheeswaran, which means "God of healing," and it is believed that prayers to Vaitheeswaran can cure diseases. Vaitheeswaran is derived from the Tamil words vaidya (doctor) and Ishvara (master/god). Sri Vaidyanathan is the deity in charge, and he faces west, while the common side is on the east. He is the God of Regeneration. It resembles the Tamil word "vaideeswaran" when spoken. It is associated with Mars (Angaraka), one of the nine Navagraha (nine planets) temples.
Nectar is present in the holy waters of the Siddhamirtham tank within the temple complex, and it is believed that a holy dip can treat all illnesses. The temple is also classified as a Paadal Petra Sthalam a temple that the Saiva nayanars respected in their Tevaram hymns, which were written by Tamil saint poets in the seventh century.
